Otherwise, LLC ("Handoff", "we", "our", or "us") operates the Handoff platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us:
- Account Information: Email address, name, and authentication credentials when you create an account.
- User Content: Workspaces, items, edges, and other content you create within Handoff.
- Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our service, including features used and actions taken.
- Communications: Messages you send to us for support or feedback.
- Text Channel Information: If you enable text messaging, we collect your phone number, text messages you send to Handoff, messages Handoff sends to you, delivery metadata, opt-in and opt-out status, and related provider identifiers needed to route messages.
We automatically collect certain technical information:
- Device and browser information
- IP address and approximate location
- Log data and error reports
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Process your requests and respond to inquiries
- Send technical notices, updates, and security alerts
- Send and receive text messages when you enable a text channel, including assistant replies, reminders, and task updates you request
- Monitor and analyze usage patterns and trends
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or fraud
- During beta: Collect diagnostic data to improve product quality
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your workspace content (such as spaces, items, or edges) to train our own machine learning models.
Text Messaging Privacy
When you enable Handoff text messaging, you consent to receive service-related messages from Handoff at the phone number you provide. Message frequency varies based on your use of the service. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out by replying STOP or get help by replying HELP.
We use text messaging providers and telecommunications carriers to send, receive, and deliver messages. We do not sell your phone number, text messaging opt-in data, or text messaging consent status. We do not share this information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We share text messaging information with service providers only as needed to deliver SMS messages, maintain opt-in and opt-out status, and operate the service.

AI and Agent Interactions
Handoff enables you to share context with AI agents via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). When you connect external AI tools to Handoff, those tools may access your workspace content based on your permissions. We do not control how third-party AI providers process data you share with them. Review the privacy policies of any AI tools you connect.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:
- Data encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Data encrypted at rest
- Regular security assessments
- Access controls and authentication
However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. Some information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
Sensitive Information
Handoff is experimental beta software and is not designed for storing highly sensitive personal information such as protected health information (PHI), government-issued identification numbers, financial account or payment card details, or similar data regulated by sector-specific laws (for example HIPAA or PCI-DSS). Please do not submit this type of information to the service.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
